Wait for state orders to open shops, CAIT to traders New Delhi, April 25 (KNN) The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) on Saturday lauded the governments decision to open shops but also issued a caution to the traders to follow orders by their state government in the matter.

"The central government has taken this decision only after fully assessing the present circumstances related to Corona and keeping in mind the difficulties of the public and economic scenario of the country," CAITs national general secretary Praveen Khandelwal said.

"We appeal the traders across the country to not open their shops in their extreme enthusiasm and await the order of respective state government and as per the same, the shops can be opened. Since trade and shops and establishment is the state subject, only the States Governments are empowered to take the decision," Khandelwal added.

The traders’ body also wrote a letter Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Puri mentioning that in the context of opening of shops or markets, it is necessary that shops and markets are properly sanitized.

Shops and markets are closed for more than a month, can contain many types of viruses including Corona beside huge dirt, dust etc. which are very important to destroy and remove, it demanded.

The government on Friday allowed to open certain shops and establishments from Saturday onwards amid lockdown.

"All shops, including neighbourhood shops and standalone shops, shops in residential complexes, within the limits of municipal corporations and municipalities, registered under the Shops and Establishment Act of the respective State and UT" will be allowed to open during the lockdown, the MHA order said.

"It would be mandatory for all permitted shops to open only with 50 per cent strength of workers, ensure compulsory wearing of masks and strict adherence to social distancing norms," the order read further.
